Vancouver renter Sandeep Bondili faces an eviction dispute as he was initially told the landlord's son would move in, but later found out it was rented to a niece. Despite moving voluntarily out of respect, Bondili lacked an official eviction notice. In his Residential Tenancy Branch hearing in September 2023, he claimed a handwritten note but couldn't provide a copy, resulting in the loss of his compensation claim. Now paying $800 more in rent at a new place, Bondili criticizes the RTB for not emphasizing the importance of an eviction notice, expressing concern for others unaware of their rights. Efforts to contact his former landlord remain unanswered.
